Couples session at Muriwai Beach (Auckland engagement - wedding photographer)

Abbey and Kate come all the way over from Australia for their couples session at Muriwai Beach (West Auckland). Its such an exciting moments and pleasure for me, engagement and wedding photographer to capture such amazing moments between two beautiful souls.

We met at the forest first, enjoying walking between trees and then moved to Muriwai Beach and had some fun walking and talking.

Enjoy highlights from couples gallery:

Engagement session on Muriwai Beach {Auckland wedding photographers}

We met with Jess & James for their engagement session on Muriwai Beach {Auckland}, one of the best location for a photo shoot - dream for everyone, especially surfers and wedding photographers. This place have amazing waves, and stunning rocks, but they could be tricky, when they come unexpected. So watch out for them, big chance to drive back home wet and covered in black sand.

We had so much fun, laughter and positive emotions with this beautiful couple, such amazing people! James shared some fun facts about their relationship: “We found out on our first date that Jess works in the same office as my brother in law just from the stories we were telling. Turned out she had already my sister too at the Christmas party a few weeks earlier. After our first date and a few more in early 2020 we managed to survive the first March lockdown and moved in together for the subsequent Auckland lockdowns and never looked back”

Pre-wedding couple session on the beach {West Auckland photographer}

Engagement session with horses at Muriwai Beach {Auckland pre-wedding photographers}

Im so excited to share with you amazing engagement session with horses at Muriwai Beach in Auckland. Deep and Prachi envisioned a beautiful pre-wedding photo shoot and organise flowers and horses hire at Muriwai Beach Horse Track, just before they planned to go away to India to have their wedding celebration. Its always a pleasure for us, wedding photographers, to capture so special moments before their marriage.

We met at the horse track, get a beautiful brown horse and walk around the forest, explore around and then spent the rest of the time at the beach, just before the sunset, enjoying stunning landscapes and surroundings.

Everything on this session went perfect {even though horses sometimes behave like a kids, and go where they want to go, need to mention horse been very interested in beautiful flower - I would think more for a snack :) but we managed to keep everything safe!}.

Enjoy highlights of this pre-wedding session with Deep & Prachi!

Engagement | Post-wedding photo shoot in Auckland {New Zealand wedding photographer}

Im so excited to share with you beautiful engagement | post-wedding photo shoot in Auckland at Muriwai Beach, one of the most stunning places in New Zealand, dream for all wedding photographers to be.

Navya & Manish come all the way from Boston, USA for their pre-wedding photo shoot in New Zealand.

Couple shared their love story: “ We met 6 years back while I was doing my masters in Washington DC and Manish came to stay with his friend who was in the same school, we started hanging out and dating the same year. Manish went back to India and visited USA again for his MBA. We used to have a long distance relationship and meet over the weekends etc, and then got married 2 years back. He proposed on top of an roof top bar in New York. I was there meeting my friends and Manish was catching up with his school friends. We both are super shy, so this was a big surprise for me. “

Such a romantic story!

Before and After | Editing Workflow and Post-processing {Auckland engagement | wedding photographer

I never shared here my Before & After, what I do in my editing workflow and post-processing. There a lot of magic and work to enhance the world around, bring some colours, pop the subject, make background looks beautiful and my couples look their best, and add some contrast, as our cameras just can’t often translate how we see the world and how we feel it! Of course it all starting on location with getting it right in the camera, creating connections, compose boldly and choosing the right angle and perspective to translate emotions. But it also a lot of time afterwards working on details and bringing your vision to reality!

As an Auckland engagement and wedding photographer I traveled all around and visited many beautiful places at photo shoots, but my heart belongs to stunning West Coast Beaches {Piha, Muriwai, Karekare, Bethells etc}.

As an Artist Im bringing my vision in the final process creating beautiful, emotional and real photographs that connects to couple love and storytelling.

Enjoy my Before & After to see what I changed in post-processing Jess & Jason pre-wedding session. Watch me shooting and editing this photo shoot in my online workshop “Love, Light & Laughter” at Click Photo School {registration open now, spaces fill out quickly, get in first}.

Tips on wedding planning for our awesome couples {Auckland - New Zealand weddings photographers}

It's time to reflect last season and create some tips on wedding planning for our awesome couples {as we shot so many Auckland, New Zealand weddings and as photographers can see what can help you to make your wedding day go flawless!}. Let the adventure begin:

pre-wedding photography New Zealand {Auckland engagement photographer}

Before the wedding day:

  1. Delegate tasks. {ask your parents, bridesmaids, and even groom!!! to help you with different tasks, it can make your wedding planning less stressful. You know they would love it! You can find their secret talents and passions {organise flowers, dance teacher, invitations etc.}
  2. Be well prepared for the wedding day and be ready to go with the flow {expect the unexpected!}. Get water, snacks - you will be starving after the ceremony!!! Prepare gifts for your bridesmaids, groomsmen, and letters for each other {its a nice touch and allow us to capture more emotional moments}
  3. Think about your timeline - allow yourself to have time to breathe and not rush into every event of the day. Consider to do a first look with Dad {it is such a particular moment when dad sees you for the first time in the wedding dress}.
  4. Let's go for an adventure on your pre-wedding | engagement photo shoot {we recommmend to schedule it at least 2-3 months before your wedding, earlier is better!}. You can choose a different to your wedding venue location {beach, waterfall, city landscape, lake, river, farm, lifestyle at home or cafe | library etc.}
  5. Plan a photography coverage: start getting ready at least 1-1.5 hour before leaving for the ceremony and finish time 0.5-1 hour after your first dance. First, things can run late and second, it helps to add to the story some moments before the ceremony - backstage and let you get used to the cameras and after the first dance - fun and party spirit with guests dancing - to tell a complete story of your wedding day. Note, we no need to have 2-3 hours for dancing photos as often same people are dancing and equal people are not dancing! :) You can extend your coverage if you feel you want to capture some special events {boys play golf or shooting at morning, girls do something special together, or there sparkles exit, many traditional dances at the reception, etc.
  6. Send us a complete questionnaire one month before your wedding. Create a family groups list. We recommend to limit it by up to 10 groupings as each group take 3 minutes and big groups up to 10 minutes each. Make sure you have a shepherd - the person who quick will gather the family together.
  7. Check the weather day before the wedding and get clear umbrellas for bride and groom or full wedding party {just in case}, you can get them in 1-2-3 dollars shops.
  8. Get plenty of sleep and rest before the wedding day to look your best!

Wedding Day

  1. It's time to relax and go with the flow. No matter how the weather looks like, or if something goes wrong {celebrant lost in the middle of nowhere, the band is few hours late, or caterers taking their time. You will be fine! Just enjoy this time of your life!
  2. It's not a photo shoot; it's your wedding day! We need you to feel relaxed and allow yourself to go with the flow. Its the happiest day of your life {you will have sparkles in your eyes, and we will capture it}.
  3. Try to spend time with important for you people. Firstly, they appreciate it, second, we can get special for your family and friends photos of natural, candid moments where you are talking with them.Take your time to take congratulations and hugs right after the ceremony. No need to jump into family formals photos right away. Enjoy this time! It will give us the opportunity to capture more natural and candid moments!
  4. Don't forget to eat and drink. We found if you drink enough water on the wedding day you feel much better next morning!
  5. Try to have some time away from the bridal party during our photo shoot. You no need any audience for such intimate photos of two of you along.
  6. We can also sneak out of reception during the epic sunset {weather permitted}, you can plan around 20 min for it, while guests are eating or enjoying their conversations. There also a chance of nighttime creative photos with flash if wedding coverage allows.
  7. We will come to you 10-15 min before our finish time to check if there any more photo requests, to not miss anything significant for you.
  8. Relax, enjoy the party and dance away! We will make sure to document these moments!

Waihi Beach pre-wedding | engagement session {Waikato - Auckland NZ weddings photographer} Rochelle and Matt

Excited to share with you a highlights from Rochelle & Matt's pre-wedding | engagement session on Waihi Beach {Waikato NZ} where I drove from Auckland to capture special for couple moments with their family. Can't wait to to be their wedding photographer in Tauranga, not long to go now!

It was such a great time on the beach just before the sunset, with warm and positive emotion and lots of love.

Couple shared their love story: "Matt and I meet 3.5 years ago through mutual friends. Matt facebook stalked me by looking through the mutual friends friends list. At this time Matt and I traveled a lot for our work, we both happened to be in Wellington at the same time and tee'd up a "date" which went really well so we tee'd up another more formal date the following weekend when we were back in Auckland. he took me to a really romantic French Restaurant, I had an allergic reaction to either the Lesgargot or the french dessert wine and he had to take me home really early.... Luckily my sneezy puffy face with crying eyes didn't scare him away.... and the rest is happily ever togetherness and foreverness history xxxx". The proposal: " Poor Matt tried to Propose many many times, apparently the ring had been out with us many times whilst Paddleboarding, hiking and out on dinner dates, Fiji, and another promise type ring in Noosa. Eventually he managed to pull it off during one of our hikes."

Auckland pre-wedding | engagement session - Anita and Jay {New Zealand wedding photographer} Parnell Rose Garden

We met with Anita and Jay on Sunday afternoon, it was a chance of rain, and we got it, but still manage to enjoy our session - engagement photo shoot in Parnell Rose Garden {Auckland, New Zealand}. I so excited about this pre-wedding session and can't wait to be their wedding photographer just in one month time! Not long to go now!

Engagement sessions always a great way to better know the couple and feel how we all roll, get some stunning photos, especially with make-up and hair trial and get a little bit more freedom than on the wedding day.

The couple shared their love story, how they met: "From the groom's perspective:
We first met on my first day of work where I was starting a new at the Auckland City Hospital as it's liver transplant team pharmacist. We worked in very different departments so the only time we managed to interact each other was via mutual friends or after work we'd stop and have a chat with each other before going home.
It was before Christmas in 2016 that we were invited by mutual friends out for a kayak trip out at Puhoi. I had thought about asking her out before this but wasn't quite sure of the circumstances, so this kayak trip was an excellent opportunity to get to know each other better ... And here we are... "

How was proposed: "Full story: I had already thought of three occasions to propose that was already in our calender, Waiheke for her birthday, June where we would be visiting the Franz Josef Glaciers and August where we would be going to Wellington.
I had hinted it would be June with the glaciers as we would be taking a helicopter up and so it would be an exceptional occasion but little did she know I was thinking of the soonest date possible straight after her birthday on Waiheke.
We arrived in Waiheke when the weather was less than ideal; I had booked us to stay at the Oyster Inn, one of Anita's favourite places on the island. We started the day by having a small picnic by the beach, I would have done it then, but the wind was just too much, and I would have had to shout my lungs out and she probably still won't hear, and I might not even be able to her answer... so that was a no. We went back to the inn and had a bit of tea, I also had brought bottle of our favourite champagne (Perrier Joet, even at our wedding) to have possibly after I have proposed, but Anita suggested we have this with dinner, so I thought okay well I guess I'd have to do it before dinner. Now coming back to after our picnic, we had a bit of tea at the inn and then retired to our room, I just felt it was the right time, we were alone, private and I decided to get on my knees and asked her to marry me there and then in the room and of course she said yes. Now we get to enjoy the other two activities I had set up earlier. " Such a beautiful memories!

Enjoy these highlights in the gallery!

Pre-wedding | engagement session on Piha beach {West Auckland weddings photographer}

Excited to share with you amazing moments from Silvia & Chris's engagement pre-wedding session on Piha Beach {Auckland, West Coast of New Zealand}. I am so delighted to be their wedding photographer next year, not long to go now! Can't wait till couple's wedding!

We met on the gorgeous seaside, surrounded by rocks and mountains. It was such a great time, just walk and talk, discuss couple's story, wedding plans and relationship. It was a fantastic time, full of fun, love and positive vibe. I will always remember Chris's trick with jandals - intend carrying them in the hands while we were walking from one location to another {so they not in the frame while we walking bear feet} he just threw them in the air and needed to mention they fly far. Can't wait to see what else going to happen on their wedding day {ready for any surprises ;).

{Love story: Couple met when they were 17 through a mutual friend and fell in love from then on. They love to do together - "Everything, we consider ourselves best friends as well as a couple. We love travelling, we have been to 22 countries together, we love being outdoors but also like watching movies and relaxing with friends." Such a romantic relationship!

Congratulations on your engagement!}
